What data we collect

Analytics (Google Analytics 4)

If you accept cookies, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site. This includes pages viewed, time on site, device type, and approximate location (city level). No personal data such as your name or email address is collected via analytics.

Affiliate click logging

When you click an affiliate link, we log the link slug, timestamp, referring page, and whether the request appears to be from a bot. We do not log your IP address, user agent, or set tracking cookies ourselves. Affiliate partners may set their own cookies after you leave our site.

Server logs (hosting provider)

Our hosting provider (Krystal) keeps standard web server logs including IP addresses, pages accessed, and timestamps for security and performance purposes. We do not control these logs.

Legal basis for processing

We process analytics data based on your consent (PECR). Click logging is based on our legitimate interest in operating an affiliate business model. Server logs are our hosting provider's legitimate interest in security and service delivery.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Request deletion
  • Object to processing
  • Withdraw consent (for analytics)

Third parties

When you click affiliate links, you leave our site and the partner's privacy policy applies. Our current partners are B&Q (via Impact), Bark (via Awin), and potentially Amazon UK in future. Each sets its own cookies and handles your data according to its own policy.

Data retention

  • Analytics data: retained by Google according to Google Analytics retention settings (typically 14 months)
  • Click logs: retained for 13 months for reporting purposes, then deleted
  • Cookie consent choice: stored in your browser (localStorage) until you clear it
